Course Description
This unit describes the knowledge and skills required to participate in, establish and lead a range of informal and formal groups in a variety of settings.
This unit may be applied to group work in a range of community service settings.

Details of Learning Activities
You will be involved in learning activities in an evening workshop. Activities will include group discussions and activities. Reflection on your own work context is a significant aspect of the course and you will be given opportunities to discuss and think about your own practice.

Preparatory reading material and/or youtube recordings will be made available prior to workshops (where relevant). Where the teacher has used a powerpoint presentation during the workshop, these resources and other learning activities and handouts will be made available to enroled students post the workshop via electronic methods.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment will be through a mix of in-class tasks, workplace based projects and a workplace assessment. A workplace assessment appointment will be undertaken once per year with each student to allow students to present and discuss workplace evidence.
Assessment Tasks
For this course you will be required to complete 3 assessment tasks:
Task 1: Provide written responses to specific questions represented in Part B of your Project Portfolio.
Task 2: Provide a testimony from your workplace supervisor or volunteer coordinator, stating your ability to resource, coordinate, manage and evauate a group planning process, effectively responding to conflict if it arises within the group
Task 3: Demonstrate your ability to manage a group activity in a workshop based scenario
