Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop drawings which represent and communicate the concept. This is a core unit which complements all the specialisation units. It is different from the drawing specialisation units which focus on drawing as an art form. This unit goes beyond the scope of CUVCOR07B Use drawing techniques to represent the object or idea and CUVCOR08B Produce drawings to represent and communicate the concept in terms of the complexity of skill requirement, use of techniques and sophistication of representation. This work would usually be carried out under supervision.
This is a core unit which underpins many other specialisation units.

Students will undertake sequential learning activities to build skills in drawing for professional environments.

Perspective drawing
Tonal & colour rendering techniques - pen & ink, markers, colour pencils, mixed media

Applying appropriate materials to a concept
Applying appropriate rendering techniques to a concept
Students will learn by observation, group critiques, electronic demonstrations, teacher demonstrations and by completing set tasks
Self-Directed Learning - Some activities will include a self-directed learning approach; self-directed learning refers to organised activities that students undertake independently, either as individuals or with other students that are supervised by a teacher. This may include workplace research, library assignments. Field trips and work placements.

Overview of Assessment
The following evidence is critical to the judgement of competence in this unit:
• production of a series of drawings which demonstrate a command of the selected techniques and which successfully communicate the concept.
Assessment Tasks
For Assessment, students will compile a completed series of class based exercises in a folio presentation

This folio is made up of a series of assessible exercises as outlined in the weekly schedule
All components must be addressed to gain a pass in this course and be deemed competent overall
You will receive feedback with verbal and/or written evaluation of your progress within class time. The submitted projects will be assessed with written feedback as well as a quality indicator that relates to separate components of the project and the overall outcome. At the completion of the course, grading will be offered in addition to, and after, competency based assessment.
