Course Description

In this course you will gain the skills and knowledge required to refine techniques for printmaking work and to develop an individual style in a body of creative work. This occurs through a process of research, refinement and evaluation.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is on-going throughout the course.

Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills and will include:

  • Participation and practical demonstration of class based activities
  • Practical demonstration to be able to select and apply appropriate techniques and media to complete a body of work
  • The ability to demonstrate conceptual development, understanding of materials and adhering to the guidelines of working in a studio.
  • Direct observation including exploration of and experimentation with techniques
  • Completion of an art journal and portfolio including personal reflection, research and feedback
  • Direct questioning combined with review of portfolios of evidence.

Assessment is based on your ability to undertake the following:

  • Evolve and refine printmaking technique through a demonstrated process of experimentation
  • Develop individual style in own work
  • Produce a coherent body of professional artwork that includes the use of well-developed printmaking technique
  • Research printmaking technique in the broader context of other artwork and artists
  • Use safe and sustainable work practices.

Assessment will be via folio submission at the end of the semester.
