Course Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge you will require to construct partial dentures for patients. The type of patient that would wear a partial denture is someone who has lost natural teeth and is replacing them with artificial teeth (denture). The unit provides you with the skills to produce a partial denture for a patient that is both functional and aesthetic.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course you will be able to demonstrate, on a consistent basis, the arrangement of artificial teeth for a partial prosthesis (dentures) as well as techniques for converting the wax trial dentures into a final hard acrylic suitable for wear by a patient. You will set teeth in various arrangements in accordance with a prescription dependent on the teeth that the patient is missing.
Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed in a simulated workplace and under the normal range of work conditions.
You will be assessed on both the essential knowledge and the demonstration of essential skills through;
Completion of practical exercises - including detailed self reflection of each exercise
