Course Description

In this course you will gain the skills and knowledge required to research information about legal compliance and ethical practice responsibilities, and then develop and monitor policies and procedures to meet those responsibilities.

This course is assessed with CHCCOM003 Develop workplace communication strategies.  Each course is assessed separately.

Classes where information is shared through talks and group discussions, and exercises are conducted to apply learning. Time in class, will also be spent working on applied assessment tasks.

This unit consists of four assessment tasks including knowledge questions, responding to a case scenario, developing a and communicating polices and developing a strategic response., a role play, a community project, a reflection and research project, and placement observation and oral questioning.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1: For this task students will answer twenty (20) questions related to legal/and or ethical breaches within the workplace in an online quiz through Canvas.

Assessment Task 2: The objective of this task is to help you consolidate what you have learned during the course and to determine knowledge and skills in responding to workplace ethical and/or legal requirements that have been breached. The assessment task requires you to analyse one (1) case study and develop responses to questions relating to the case study.

Assessment Task 3: For this task you will need to get into groups of three (3). You will each need to equally participate and contribute in the planning and development of the Research Report and Policy and Procedure document.

Assessment Task 4: For this task students will be required to describe what they would do in response to 3 scenarios that provide different examples of a legal or ethical breach in a community service organisation.

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills to a standard expected in the workplace. To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.
