Course Description

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to analyse client health information and then to plan appropriate health services within scope of own role. It requires an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology. This unit applies to individuals who plan and provide services with some level of autonomy. Some disciplines will require a state/territory regulatory determination regarding delegation and supervision.

Details of Learning Activities

The Remedial Massage clinic will be delivered through face-to-face clinical sessions which you are required to attend on a weekly basis.

Withing clinic you will have the opportunity to utilise all your learnt skills within the Diploma of Remedial Massage.

The practical application of all skills will lead to a strong understanding of how to work with a range of clients, in an effective manner in order to stabilise conditions  allowing clients to live a better quality of life.  Refining practical skills within a clinical environment at RMIT allows for professional growth with the very exciting and emerging Diploma of Remedial Massage.

 

The theory classes will will help you develop the skills and knowledge to analyses client health information and then plan appropriate Remedial services. 

Theory classes will run in Semester 2, 2020 from weeks 13-17. See Canvas for specific dates/times.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1.1: Clinic Entrance Knowledge 

This assessment task allows you to demonstrate your knowledge related to the clinic policies and procedures that you will/may come across in your student clinic time at RMIT.

 

Assessment Task 1.2: Knowledge Questions 

This short-answer assessment task  allows you to demonstrate your knowledge on anatomy and physiology.

 

Assessment Task 2: Practical client conditions 

This practical assessment will allow you to demonstrate your ability to analyse and respond to various client health conditions. You must treat a minimum of 6 different clients presenting with different conditions   Assessed client health status based on:
  • observations
  • physical assessments
  • interpretation of client tests

Important information regarding Assessment Tasks:

 

Resubmissions are not automatic and will only be approved at the discretion of the Program Coordinator, after consultation with the teacher and each individual assessment may only be resubmitted once. 

All students will be contacted with 7 days by their course coordinator in regards to  resubmission completion dates.

   

Please note an opportunity to repeat clinical placement is not guaranteed and will be at the discretion of the Clinical Coordinator/Program Manager.

 

EXTENSION OR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

 

If due to illness or other unforeseen circumstance, you are unable to attend on the due date of an assessment (e.g. test, examination, oral, etc.) OR you do attend, but your performance has been affected, you may submit an APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION within 5 working days of the due date. If Special Consideration is granted, you will be given the opportunity to complete/repeat the assessment task at a later date. If due to illness or other unforeseen circumstance, you are unable to submit by the due date (e.g. assignment, report, project etc.):
you may submit an APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME FOR SUBMISSION OF ASSESSABLE WORK for an extension of time of up to seven (7) calendar days or less. This must be lodged with the Program Coordinator 1 working day before the original due date. If granted, you will have the opportunity to submit up to 7 days later than the original due date.
