Course Description

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to analyse client health information and then to plan appropriate health services within scope of own role. It requires an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology. This unit applies to individuals who plan and provide services with some level of autonomy. Some disciplines will require a state/territory regulatory determination regarding delegation and supervision.

2.1 Apply detailed understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of disease to a problem solving approach to service planning. 2.2 Consider and note implications of any contra-indications in relation to health assessment findings. 2.3 Document action plan in accordance with organisation policies and procedures.

1.1 Analyse client health information in relation to planning services and in line with organisation requirements 1.2 Recognise normal readings on the findings of available tests, observations and physical assessments that assist in determining health status 1.3 Identify pathophysiologies, or changing pathologies, through observation, physical assessment and analysis of other available information 1.4 Identify the likely impact of specific interventions

Details of Learning Activities

You will attend 1 Remedial Massage clinic shift per week at RMIT.  During this clinic shift you will treat people from the general public and analyse and respond to their health information.

  1. Clinic skills checklist.

Within your clinic folder is your clinic skills checklist.  This is a set of skills that you must complete to a satisfactory level during your clinic sessions.  All skills must be viewed by your supervisor.

2. Students must attend and be punctual to all rostered clinic shifts.  If a student misses a clinic session, they must get cover for the shift, replace the missed shift at another time, and provide a Drs certificate for the missed clinics date.
