Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide massage treatments using a defined range of techniques and sequences. This unit applies to massage therapists providing general health maintenance treatments. It does not include remedial massage techniques.

Details of Learning Activities

Students will learn the elements of how to dress and massage table, draping a client in supine, prone and side lying.

Students will  be introduced to lotions , oils and balms that can used in the application of massage techniques.

Students will learn the fundamental hand skills that can be used to form a basic massage to all localized areas of the body.

Students will learn techniques on how to stand , move and mobilize their bodies to form good massage therapist ergonomics so they can have longevity within the industry

Assessment task 2 - Practical assessments-

 

First Assesment - Due 1/04/19

  • You will be required to complete a sports massage within 30 minutes, demonstrating various massage techniques
  • You will make client notes and assess the client using LOOTRDIOOPS knowlege
  • You will massage the region required from the case study provided
  • You will be required to re- assess and offer any self help required from the case study notes   

Second Assessment- Due 03/06/19 -You will be required to complete a sports massage within 60 minutes, demonstrating required various massage techniques.

You will be required to show warm up techniques to a selected region of the body, you will then treat any affected muscles and on completion flush the area to complete the massage

You will demonstrate how to perform Active (AROM), Passive (PROM) and Resisted Range of Motion (RROM),You will demonstrate how to perform a PNF stretch/static stretch and provide a self-care stretch,

You will document your findings, re-test and document finding post treatment and discuss endangerment sites that maybe applicable.
