Course Description

The course describes the skills and knowledge required to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues in the workplace, model cultural safety in own work practice, and develop strategies to enhance cultural safety.

This course applies to people working in a broad range of roles including those involved in direct client service, program planning, development and evaluation contexts.

Details of Learning Activities

Learning activities for this unit CHCDIV002 will include online classes as well as practical labs with a clinical placement component.  This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues in the workplace, model cultural safety in your own work practice and to develop strategies to enhance cultural safety.

This unit applies to people working in a broad range of roles including those involved in direct client service, program planning, development and evaluation contexts.

In this course you will be asked to complete assessment such as quiz and a case study to enable you to gain a deeper understanding of this course.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including written, oral, practical tasks and activities.

 

You will be asked to personally demonstrate to your teacher/assessor the practical skills gained during this course to the relevant industry standards. Assessment activities will occur throughout this course and feedback will be provided at regular intervals

Assessment Task 1: Online Quiz 

Guidelines will be provided for this Assessment Task 1: Knowledge Assessment.

This assessment task allows you to demonstrate your knowledge of the CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety.

 

Assessment Task 2: Case Study & Self Reflection

This assessment is the second of three assessment tasks the student needs to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this unit. Completing this project allows the student to demonstrate that they:

• Understand the critical issues that influence relations and communication with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

• Can recognise their own cultural and biases.

• Can reflect on how they plan to overcome these biases when working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

• Can identify resources to aid communication with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

You must be competent in all elements to successfully complete the course

All re submissions must be completed and submitted no more than 7 days after our work has been assessed.

Please note an opportunity to repeat clinical placement is not guaranteed and will be at the discretion of the clinical Coordinator/Program Manager.
