Course Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake a straightforward project or a section of a larger project. This unit addresses the management of projects, including developing a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalising the project, and reviewing the project to identify lessons learned for application to future projects

Learning Outcomes
You will learn how to apply project-management skills and how to meet the requirement of timelines, quality standards, budgetary limits and other requirements set for a project.
Details of Learning Activities
This course is structured to provide students with the optimum learning experience. Students will participate in a combination of group and individual learning activities. These activities will be provided through a combination of face to face teacher/student deliveries plus classroom work time. Students will need to research a specific topic and next present the content to the other students with the feedback of the teacher. This is a reversal of the teacher/student role. Additional learning activities will also be provided to students to complete outside of timetabled time.

- communication skills to relate to people with diverse abilities and from diverse backgrounds in a culturally appropriate way
- literacy skills to read, write and review a range of documentation
- numeracy skills to:
- analyse data
- compare time lines and promotional costs against budgets
- planning and organising skills to develop, monitor and maintain implementation schedules.
Knowledge evidence:
organisation's mission, goals, objectives and operations and how the project relates to them
- organisational structure, and lines of authority and communication in the organisation
- relevant legislation and codes from all levels of government that may affect aspects of business operations, including:
- anti-discrimination legislation
- codes of practice
- environmental issues
- ethical principles
- WHS
- privacy laws.
Assessment Conditions
Assessment must ensure:
- access to workplace project documentation
demonstration of all required skills, knowledge and performance in a workplace-based project.
You are advised that you are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate your assessment work to your teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.

Note: You are required to complete three tasks. You must successfully complete all three tasks to be deemed competent in this course.
Assessment Task 1: Questionnaire - Applied Terminology: Tasks and Questions
Due date: Week 7 – in class (access to a PC, laptop or tablet required)
You will be supplied with a sample brief that includes relevant information about the project, dates, tasks, stakeholders, etc. You then need to complete/answer a set of questions and tasks during class time.

Assessment Task 2: Report -Project Analysis and Project Plan
Due date: Week 11, Sunday, 11pm (upload on Canvas)
You will analyse a specific project and develop a detailed project plan.
Type: Group of 3-4
Assessment Task 3: Report – Monitoring, Finalisation and Review of Project
Due dates:
- Upload on Canvas: Week 14, Sunday, 11pm
- Presentation in Class: Week 15
You will work on the project with the same group as per assessment 2. You will need to develop a detailed report on how the project has been monitored, finalised and reviewed.

Assessment Matrix
The assessment matrix that maps all the assessment is available on CANVAS. Submission Requirements You should:
- Ensure that you submit assessments on or before the due date.
- Always retain a copy of your assessment tasks. (hard copy and soft copy)
- When you submit work for assessment at RMIT University you need to use the Assessment task document that includes a declaration and statement of authorship.
- Each page of your assessment should include footer with your name, student number, the title of the assessment, unit code and title and page numbers.

Late Submission Procedures You are required to submit assessment items and/or ensure performance based assessment is completed by the due dates. If you are prevented from submitting an assessment item on time, by circumstances outside your control, you may apply in advance to your teacher for an extension to the due date of up to seven calendar days.
