Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate your competency in the above elements.

Details of Learning Activities

On successful completion of this course, you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate your competency in producing drawings to communicate ideas.

Its purpose is to equip students with a style of freehand perspective drawing that develops and describes their three-dimensional (3D) design ideas.

Your "personal style" will develop through an understanding of the basic skills required but should not influence skills and techniques learnt.

Details of Learning Activities

Learning activities will take place in a studio / class room  using industry standard resources. The program uses repetition and copying examples from demonstration by the teacher to cement basic drawing principles.  There will be in class activities most weeks and you will be expected to produce several pages of drawings in each lesson to consolidate the course content.

You should spend a similar amount of time outside of the weekly session practising the techniques learnt each week to complete assignments outside class time.

In class activities may include:
• Presentations and demonstration
• Teacher directed group activities/projects with individual input from students
• Class exercises to practice and develop skills
• Analysis/critique of relevant material
• Student presentations with Teacher and Peer feedback and review
• Personal class time to discuss and develop own work for assessment/presentation

Out of class activities may include:
• Practical work on presentation of work
• Investigation and research
• Preparing of work for presentations
• Project work
• Independent research
• Online research

You are expected to manage your learning and undertake an appropriate amount of out-of-class independent study and research.

The program aims to connect you with the "fun" aspects of drawing, and all the important principles necessary to visualise your ideas quickly and accurately.

This course will be delivered through face-to-face classes and by utilising the learning support material and resources here in Canvas.

There will be weekly drawing activities most weeks and you will be expected to attempt these during class time and practice them on your own time. It is essential to attend classes to take advantage of the expert tuition available to you.

Drawing is a complex learned skill that will take many, many hours to master. It is essential that you practice as much as you can.

Unlike most of the courses you study in this course runs over 2 semesters. You will receive feedback through the semester but your final grade will be entered once both semester have been complete.

Across the 32 weeks there will be opportunities for feedback on week 8, week 16 and week 24
