Overview of Assessment
You must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be evidence that you have:
• followed 2 sets of sequenced written instructions and manufacturers’ instructions for preparation of materials for joining alloy structures
• used standard precautions and safe work practices to produce 2 soldered or welded joints that exhibit bio-compatibility and optimum mechanical properties
• critically evaluated the 2 joined alloy structures produced to meet technical laboratory and patient requirements, including joint:
- position
- strength
- integrity
- function.
To be deemed competent you must demonstrate an understanding of all aspects required of the competency.
Regular attendance is necessary.
Assessment methods have been designed to measure your achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over multiple tasks and consist of theory and practical based tasks.

Assessment 1: Theory Assessment - Written Test Due AT2 1/9/23 and AT3 2/6/23
The theory assessment will include short answer questions and diagrams as required.
Assessment 2: Practical Assessment – Practical Skills Test AT2 4/8/23 & AT3 30/3/23
During your practical assessment you will be required to produce and critically evaluate 2 soldered or welded joints
