Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral/written presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment 1A: Reviewing Information to Develop Project Schedule

As the project manager (Tina Hughes) for the "Expansion of Marino Enterprises Project Stage 2," you will create a detailed project schedule. This involves preparing an activity list, milestone list, work breakdown structure (WBS), network diagram, and critical path analysis. Additionally, you will produce a Gantt chart to visually represent the schedule and estimate human resource requirements.

Assessment 1B: Meeting with Project Sponsors and Stakeholders

You will present the proposed project schedule to stakeholders, including the project sponsor, to gain approval. During the meeting, you will outline the project deliverables, progress, dependencies, and risks, address stakeholder expectations, and seek agreement on timelines and resource allocations. Post-meeting, you will make necessary adjustments to the schedule and distribute the final version.

Assessment 2A: Amend the Project Schedule as a result of Project Changes

This task requires adjusting the project schedule in response to new scenarios and stakeholder requests. You will use techniques such as PERT analysis and time impact analysis to evaluate changes, identify baseline variances, and assess their effects on the project’s timeline and outcomes. An updated schedule will be submitted for approval with a detailed explanation of the impacts.

Assessment 2B: Modify Time Management Documents

You will lead a meeting to discuss the project’s progress and address any issues impacting the schedule. This includes reviewing and justifying proposed changes, amending the critical path, and revising the schedule. Following the meeting, you will communicate updates to stakeholders in line with organisational policies and expectations.

Assessment 3A: Review and Analyse Time Management of the Project

You will evaluate the effectiveness of the project schedule and time management processes against the project outcomes. This includes identifying challenges, reviewing techniques used, and documenting observations to support continuous improvement.

Assessment 3B: Lessons Learned from Time Management of the Project

Building on the review in Assessment 3A, you will complete a Lessons Learned document, detailing the challenges faced, tools and techniques used, and their effectiveness. You will also provide recommendations for future improvement and outline how these insights will be shared with relevant stakeholders.

Assessment 4: Developing a Project Schedule

You will develop a Gantt chart for the "Indoor Sustainable Garden Project," starting from a specified date. The task includes preparing supporting documents such as an activity list, WBS, milestone list, network diagram, and risk ratings, alongside resource and cost estimates. The schedule should clearly show dependencies, resource allocations, and the critical path.
