Course Description

In this course you will acquire the skills and knowledge required to create a final sound balance for a production.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral/written presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS.



Assessment Tasks

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace.  

To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task. 
 
You should refer to the assessment brief which is available through Canvas for full assessment criteria and due dates

Assessment Task 1: Project: SFX Comp. Completing this project will allow you to demonstrate your ability to create a final sound balance for a range of recorded and live productions. You will create a video bounce from Pro Tools DAW and upload the video into Canvas. Due Week 6

Assessment Task 2: Project: Radio Advertisement. Completing this project will allow you to demonstrate your ability to create a final sound balance for a range of recorded and live productions.You will write and record the voice over for your 30-second radio advertisement, adding sound effects and music to final production. Due Week 13 

Assessment Task 3: Project: Music Mix. Completing this major project will allow you to demonstrate your ability to create a final sound balance for a range of recorded and live productions. For this assessment you will complete a Final Sound Balance for a multi channel music recording. This will be completed using the Pro Tools application. The submission will involve three components:

  • The Audio bounce file
  • A report document
  • PTX file
