Course Description
In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge required to access, interpret and apply relevant building codes and standards applicable to the National Construction Code (NCC) Classes 1 and 10 buildings, to a maximum of two storeys. This includes knowledge of the structure of the NCC, as well as the ability to access relevant information from the code as applicable to various building projects.
It applies to builders, site managers and related construction industry professionals responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and standards related to residential construction projects.

The learning activities for this subject are as follows:
The coarse covers Low Rise construction focusing on Class 1 and Class 10 only. Students will access the National Construction Code [NCC] 2019 that covers all Class 1 and Class 10 construction methods.
The course is structured in Topics:
Topic 1 National building code and standards
Topic 2 Class buildings
Topic 3 Construction compliance requirements
Topic 4 Apply fire protection requirements.
The Topics are further divided into weekly lectures with self-managed class activities.

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights to your written tasks.
