Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral/written presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS

Assessment Tasks

There are 3 overall assessments for this course.

You must be deemed satisfactory for each of these assessment tasks to complete this course.

Assessment Task 1 Written Assessment task - This is a short-answer assessment task you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this unit. This assessment task allows you to demonstrate your knowledge of a number of body systems and medical terminology.  This will incorporate anatomy, physiology and medical terminology knowledge testing.

Assessment Task 2 - Written Assessment task - This is also a short-answer assessment task you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this unit.
This assessment task allows you to demonstrate your knowledge of body systems, and identifying when things go wrong, common treatments and basic pharmacology information.

Assessment Task 3 - Practical Assessment task - This assessment will be conducted in the simulated environment. You are required to obtain, correctly interpret and use anatomical and physiological client information to check the physical health status of 3 different people presenting with different conditions.

You must satisfactorily answer and complete all questions and fields on the forms.

Assessment conditions

Describe how assessments meet the assessment conditions

Use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources, including client health information

AT3 is conducted in a simulated environment with access to client information.

AT3 is conducted using case studies based on real patient scenarios and authentic clinical assessment tools to analyse a persons health status and evaluate their needs.

Modelling of industry operating conditions, including:

  • Analysis of health information of real people
  • Integration of problem-solving activities

AT3 is conducted in a simulated environment with access to client information.

AT3 is conducted using case studies based on real patient scenarios and authentic clinical assessment tools to analyse a persons health status and evaluate their needs.

Other Information

Prior to clinical placement you will be given a clinical skills log book, and this will be the record you will require for Assessment 3.

You are permitted to have 2 attempts at a simulated practical assessment and 1 resit at theory assessment for this course.

Re-submissions are not automatic and will only be approved at the discretion of the program coordinator after consultation with the teacher.

All re-submissions must be completed and submitted no more than 7 days after your work has been assessed.    Please note an opportunity to repeat clinical placement is not guaranteed and will be at the discretion of the Clinical Coordinator/Program Manager.
