Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify and implement changes to production or operation procedures to improve sustainability in an organisation or related value chain organisations. It applies to readily implementable changes and measuring the immediate impact of the changes on equipment or area of operation. The unit covers the identification and implementation of changes to operational procedures to improve sustainability. These changes can often be attempted without substantial prior analysis or planning.

This unit applies across organisations and the full extent of their value chains. It applies to individuals with work area responsibilities such as team leaders, maintenance staff, technicians and others who have some sustainability responsibility as part of their job.

No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

Details of Learning Activities

This unit will be co-delivered and co-assessed with TLIX0020X - Monitor ethical supply chain practices  - as a cluster is entitled "Ethical and Sustainability Practices in the Supply Chain".

The delivery of this cluster will be face to face on-campus. 

The activities will include some elements of lecture style, some research-based and self directed learning. There will be a large part of the activities incorporating simulated business meetings, in class.

The emphasis will be mainly on interactive learning.

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral/written presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights. Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1 - Knowledge Test

Due:  Week 11

Purpose

This short-answer assessment task is one (1) of three (3) assessment tasks you need to complete. Both need to be satisfactorily completed in order to be deemed competent for this cluster.  


This assessment task allows you to demonstrate your knowledge of managing and improving sustainability within your supply chain and ethical practices.

What


• You have 18 questions to answer in the assessment.
• All responses should be based on sustainability and ethical practices and not specific to any case study, unless otherwise advised in the question.
• You must satisfactorily answer all 18 questions 
• You should answer all questions in the spaces provided, using full sentences unless otherwise instructed.
• This is an individual assessment task and must be your own work 

 

Assessment Task 2 - Live Simulated Meeting 

Due: Week 13

Purpose

This assessment is designed to assess the skills and knowledge to assess existing sustainability and ethical policies to implement change in line with market demands, business sustainability and potential compliance requirements.

What

You are to participate in a live simulated business meeting.
Duration for the simulated live meeting:  15 minutes – 20 minutes (in class)

Simulated Live Meeting:

The company’s (case study) board of directors has advised that external trends, market demands, and regulations have started to reflect change and pressures within the areas of environmental sustainability (green) and ethical practices in the supply chain and logistics industry sector.

 

Assessment Task 3 - Practices Portfolio of Evidence and Workbook

Due:   Week 15

Purpose

This product assessment task is the third (3rd) of three (3) assessment tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this cluster of two (2) units. 

This assessment will allow you to demonstrate your ability to manage a supply chain in regard to your sustainability and ethical practices organisational policies. 

What

In this assessment consists of (2) parts.

 Part A:

 Presentation to the simulated Board of Directors - Meeting

 This meeting can be conducted in an in-class (Teacher/Assessor) observed format as per the Assessment 2 meeting, or
you can video or audio record a meeting with your team in a MP4 format to submit/upload.  

 The purpose of the meeting is to present your teams proposal of changes that you concluded from your assessment 2 meeting for their (board members) acceptance or negotiation of amendments. 

 

This meeting is to be in the format of a business meeting and evidence is to by way of minutes as per your assessment 2 meeting. You will be working in teams, however, each student must submit their own work .

 Part B: 

You are required to complete a portfolio workbook which includes multiple tasks.  Tasks consist of general supply chain information and information based on the case study company provided.

This course is a cluster of the following two (2) individual units within the Diploma of Logitics - TLI50221.

These 2 courses will be co-delivered and co-assessed, all three (3) assessments must be completed successfully to deem these two units satisfactory.
