Course Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify the scope and nature of work within the translating and interpreting sector. It includes identifying work options, determining own skills and knowledge, establishing professional connections or networks and developing a career plan.
The unit applies to emerging translators and interpreters seeking to plan their career.

Assessment Task 1 – Career Planning
This knowledge assessment helps you identify career options in translating and interpreting, assess skill gaps, and explore relevant training opportunities for chosen options. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to: identify scope and nature of work within the translating and interpreting sector; conduct self-assessment; investigate career options to become an interpreter and develop an individual career plan.
Assessment Matrix
Each assessment clearly outlines the competencies being addressed in the task in relation to performance criteria. The sum of assessment tasks will cover all units and their elements over a range of occasions. You will be given opportunities to demonstrate competency in a variety of ways throughout the program. You are encouraged to discuss any problems or concerns with your teacher or program coordinator.
