Course Description
The unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues in the workplace, model cultural safety in own work practice, and develop strategies to enhance cultural safety.
This unit applies to people working in a broad range of roles including those involved in direct client service, program planning, development and evaluation contexts.

Delivery Information for this course. The course CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety has been developed by the Indigenous Learning and Teaching Team at RMIT. Please note this course is predominantly self directed for students. In week 5 of the semester a teacher will orientate students to this course including self directed learning tips and an overview of Assessment tasks. You will also be required to attend a mandatory Cultural Safety session (date TBC) with an Indigenous Guest Speaker arranged by RMIT. There are 8 self paced modules to work through. | |

Overview of Assessment
There are two individual assessment tasks consisting of a presentation and short answer questions.
Assessment Tasks
You will be given two (2) attempts for each assessment to demonstrate the required knowledge and skills. A third (3rd) attempt can only be offered after discussions between teacher and the Program Coordinator and is not automatic. Resubmissions beyond two (2) attempts are at the discretion of the teacher and/or coordinator.
Assessment Task 1 - Knowledge Questions
The purpose of this task is to demonstrate knowledge of the skills required to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues in the workplace, modelling cultural safety in your own work practices and develop strategies to enhance cultural safety.
Assessment Task 2: Reflective Portfolio
The purpose of this task is for students to develop a cultural safety strategy for a workplace in the form of a reflective portfolio and website using Adobe Express Presentations (or equivalent) to highlight culturally safe practices, key issues faced, and strategies to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and colleagues feel respected, valued, and understood.
