Overview of Assessment
Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievements of each competency in a flexible manner. Students will complete a portfolio of evidence which includes online discussion, workplace scenarios and a workplace report.
Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. In addition to the assessments, formative feedback is provided to the students throughout the duration of the course.
Assessment Tasks
Portfolio
Students will complete activities (see Portfolio Guide) and submit to the DLS Blackboard by the due date. The Portfolio Guide is available on the DLS for this course under Assessments.
Work-based Project/Report (50%)
Students will conduct research on occupational health and safety in a real workplace. This research will be documented in a report based on the findings of this research. A formal report will be produced reflecting the student’s underpinning knowledge of the principles and techniques associated with maintaining a safe workplace.
The Report Marking Guide is available on the DLS for this course under Assessments. The Report should be completed and submitted with the marking guide attached by Week 10.
