Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester and involves practical exercises, knowledge assessment tasks, presentations and written projects.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment for this course is competency based. To show competency, you must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task. Once you have demonstrated competency, you will receive a grade for A02, A03 and A04 and for the course.
Late submissions or submissions that do not reach the required standard, may be assessed Not Yet Satisfactory. You will receive resubmission instructions via email, myRMIT or LMS feedback. Resubmissions must occur within a week of this notification. Graded assessments which are resubmitted, are eligible for CAG (Competency Achieved Graded) only.
Please refer to the assessment brief for full assessment criteria or assessment rubric. All assessment documents are available on the course LMS page through MyRMIT.
A01 - Pre-Production workshops for Design Project 3
Students will participate in workshops relating to processes of visualisation and organisation. The aim is to provide a framework for skills and knowledge to develop pre-production material for Design Project 3.
Due week 2 - Ungraded
A02 - Pre-production for Design Project 3
This assessment task involves the development and completion of pre-production material for Design Project 3 and will primarily be monitored and developed within the Design Studio 3 class. However, initial ideas and/or any scripts, treatments will be initiated in the concept 3 class. But It is expected that students will develop their idea within BOTH classes – as it is ultimately the same project. The emphasis in Design Studio will be to focus more on the visual and organizational production aspects - such as storyboards, graphics, research images, mood- boards, schedules and timelines.
Due week 5 - Graded
A03 - Pre-production Review for Design Project 3
This assessment task involves the detailed analysis and review of original pre-production material in the light of the realization/completion of Design Project 3 itself. Students are expected to identify aspects such as what worked what didn’t work and how well production schedules and timelines were structured and/or adhered to.
Due week 12 - Graded
A04 - Industry project
Students will participate in a team to develop, plan and create a project for a specific industry brief. You will be assessed on the contribution you make to the project, participation in team meetings and the completed project.
Due week 15 - Graded
