Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare and plan for myotherapy treatment. This includes negotiating the treatment plan with the client.

Details of Learning Activities


 Plan myotherapy treatment strategy is taught and assessed within the Myotherapy student clinic (RMIT city campus 51.07.03/51.06.04). 

The students are to attend one 3 hour clinic shift per week.  During this clinic shift they perform Myotherapy treatment on clients from the general public.  All clinic sessions are supervised by Myotherapists. 


Teaching Schedule

Myotherapy teaching clinic schedules are available on the timetable (Canvas).

 

Each student must complete 1 allocated 3 hour shifts in the Myotherapy student clinic per week as well as Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement activities as rostered.

To be deemed competent you must demonstrate an understanding of all aspects required of the competency. Assessment methods have been designed to measure your achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over multiple tasks. 


Assessment Tasks

  1.  Clinic Skills Observation Checklist.  Must be completed prior to end of final clinic shift of semester 2 2019
  2. Students must attend all rostered clinic shifts.  

If a student is absent from any WIL shift (RMIT clinic or external) they must:

  • Contact the supervisor and apply for special consideration
  • Find a replacement for the shift 
  • Complete a make up shift

If any of these points are not completed, or the special consideration is not granted, students may fail this course.

Student must arrive in clinic with clean clinic uniform and closed toes all black shoes
