Hello and welcome to Conduct Myotherapy Relating to Myotherapy Clinical Practice. 

Course description

In this course you will learn a range of skills and knowledge required to source and evaluate relevant research information and how to apply the findings to a Myotherapy clinical practice. 

This unit applies to a person who is practicing as a Myotherapist working within a clinical setting as an independent practitioner or as a member of a team within a health care clinic. 

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State and/or Territory legislation, Australian Standards, industry codes of practice and clinic guidelines. 

How this course runs

This unit will be delivered over sixteen (16) weeks via combined face-to-face classes and partial on-campus data collection. These sixteen weeks are split into three (3) blocks of learning;

  1. theory learning and applying to a Literature Review
  2. your own research data collection
  3. research presentation to your peers

Resources Required for learning: 

  • laptop and charger
  • a quiet space with good lighting and comfortable desk/table and chair
  • ability to connect to the internet with enough available data
  • ability to run a project time management

RMIT has various study spaces and computers (booking required Links to an external site.) available to students if preferred. Building 51, level 2 has open drop-in cubicles available on a first in scenario. RMIT free WiFi data and connection is also available when on site.  

Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) Links to an external site.is the online system for all course and unit and assessment communication. This is also the space to where assessments are to be uploaded.

Assessments

To be considered competent in this unit, the participant must achieve all of the elements of competency to the level specified by the associated Performance Criteria.

  1. Plan research activities relating to myotherapy practice
  2. Collect and analyse research information
  3. Apply research findings to clinical practice

Specifically, they must be able to:

    • Articulate the objectives of research relating to myotherapy practice
    • Identify source of contemporary information on myotherapy practice
    • Select appropriate research processes

Collect and critically analyse research information, data and evidence on the effects of complementary medicines and treatments on:

    • various health conditions
    • clinical presentation, and
    • the maintenance of physical well-being
  • Determine the relevance of research findings within the context of a myotherapy framework
  • Document research activities and conclusions
  • Implement research findings to improve myotherapy practice

Required skills for competency to be met:

  • Access and critically evaluate reference materials
  • Identify information needs and plan efficient information gathering strategies
  • Access and interpret up-to-date information
