Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to research and develop an integrated business plan for achieving business goals and objectives.
Specific legal requirements apply to the management of a small business.

This work is undertaken by individuals who operate a small business.
This unit is suitable for micro and small businesses or a department in a larger organisation.


Details of Learning Activities

This unit is co-delivered with BSBPMG41/BUSM8849C Apply project risk management techniques to support the required knowledge and skills in the context of working in architectural building design.

Delivery will be fully online via the Canvas LMS (Learning Management System) with weekly teacher led topic discussions students will engage in and self-directed learning activities including; defining the elements of small business planning, business and market research, legislation, financials, documentation and risk management. Students will be referred to a range of current online State and National small business planning resources and document templates to support their writing and development of their small business idea and plan.

Overview of Assessment

This unit of competency could be assessed in the workplace or a close simulation of the workplace environment, provided that simulated or project-based assessment techniques replicate building design workplace conditions, materials, activities, responsibilities and procedures.

Holistic or project-based assessment with other related units is recommended.


Assessment Tasks

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace. To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.
