Course Description

This unit of competency covers using a computer-aided design (CAD) program to produce and plot basic 3-D view drawings.

2.4  Use editing functions to modify 3-D geometric shapes in creating 3-D views
 
2.5  Produce wire line, surface and solid face displays in isometric, perspective and orthographic projections

Student directed hours involve completing activities such as reading online resources, assignments, individual student-teacher course-related consultation. Overview of Assessment

The assessment is conducted in both theoretical and practical aspects of the course according to the performance criteria set in the National Training Package. Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including written/oral activities and demonstration of practical skills to the relevant industry standards. Participants are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment activities to their teacher/assessor. Feedback will be provided throughout the course. To successfully complete this course, you will be required to demonstrate competency in each assessment task detailed under Assessment Tasks:

Assessment Tasks

Assessment 1: Unit Test (Week 4)

Students must answer a series of questions relating to OHS at RMIT and safe computer usage.

Assessment 2: Portfolio Drawing Exercises (Week 8)

Students must draw Engineering objects using 3rd angle projection on 2D software to specifications stipulated in the learning guide and to AS1100.

Assessment 3: Competency Test (Week 9)

Students must draw Engineering objects using 3rd angle projection to specifications stipulated in the learning guide and to AS1100.

This course is assessed as Competent or Not Yet Competent.
To be deemed competent you must demonstrate an understanding of all aspects required of the competency. You need to achieve satisfactory (S) results in all assessments to be deemed Competent (CA).
