Course Description

In this course you will acquire the skills and knowledge required to establish and manage compliance management systems to enable organisations to fulfil their obligations and responsibilities under compliance requirements.

This course addresses the following units of competency:  

  • BSBAUD601 - Establish and manage compliance management systems 
  • BSBESB402 - Establish legal and risk management requirements of new business ventures 

These units are clustered for delivery and assessment .

Details of Learning Activities

This course will be delivered via our existing learning management system, Canvas. 

Classes in each of your units will still take place in their normal scheduled time-slots, your teacher will utilise the Collaborate Ultra platform to deliver ‘live’ online classes. These classes delivered online will not only provide you with the required learning materials for those sessions, but they will also enable interactions with your teachers and fellow students via forums or discussion board

A range of learning activities are planned for this course including self-paced and discussion activities. The self-paced activities will be delivered through various technology platforms and may include your contribution to discussion threads, quizzes and interactive sessions.

The collaborative activities will include group discussions, group problem-solving activities and opportunities to practice your skills in a simulated/real workplace environment. We expect you to participate and contribute in all scheduled learning activities.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights to your written tasks. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS.


Assessment Tasks

There is a total of three assessments in this cluster of two units.

All three assessment tasks must be completed satisfactorily to be deemed competent in the cluster of two units BSBESB402 and BSBAUD601.

The assessments must be uploaded to Canvas in PDF / Word format by the due date/time.

Assessment Task 1 (Take home): Identify requirements and plan appropriate systems

Due: Week 5 Sunday, 11:59 PM

The purpose of this assessment is for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in identifying legal and risk management requirements relating to business, negotiate and arrange contracts, identify and treat business risks.

Assessment Task 2 (Take home): Research, plan and establish appropriate systems 

Due: Week 9 Sunday, 11:59 PM

The purpose of this assessment is for students to demonstrate their ability to plan for and establish appropriate compliance program/ management systems to enable an organisation to fulfil its obligations and responsibilities under applicable compliance requirements.

Assessment Task 3 (Take home): Comply, supervise and monitor

Due: Week 15 Sunday @ 23:59

The purpose of this assessment is for students to demonstrate their ability to plan, establish, supervise and monitor appropriate practice systems which would enable an organisation to fulfil its obligations and responsibilities under applicable compliance requirements, confirm to legislative and regulatory requirements, and meet standards defined in professional codes of practice.

Resubmissions (VET Programs)

If you are found to be unsuccessful (Not satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) in a Course Assessment Task you will be allowed one resubmission.  Your teacher will provide feedback regarding what you need to do to improve and will set a new deadline for the resubmission.

If you are still not meeting the assessment requirements you must apply to your Program Manager in writing outlining the steps you will take to demonstrate competence in your course. Your submission will be considered by the Program Team and you will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.

 

Penalties for Late Submission 

Late submissions of assignments without special consideration or extension will automatically be considered a re-submission (see above).

Changes to the Assessment Scheme

Where a change to assessment approved by the dean/head of school changes an assessment due date, students will be given at least five working days’ notice of the new due date.
