Course Description
This course introduces students to the basic principles of web design and production. Students learn how to plan a website from proposal and site map through to visual treatment, content and site production. Students will learn the principles of content creation for the Web and gain an understanding of the principles of XHTML, CSS structure and styling, web protocols and data management. There will be an emphasis on design including typography, color theory, principles of grid layout, positioning and measurement mapping. Students will apply principles of visual design theory and information hierarchy to Interface design in relation to information architecture.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to develop documentation for information architecture and design and develop simple HTML websites.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment will involve developing documentation for information architecture (or how a websites content is presented and designed). In addition, you will design and develop (coded) websites using HTML and CSS.
