Course Description
In this course you will develop skills and knowledge required to research light and colour in a variety of art methods and settings. This course encourages you to develop your own ideas and concepts about the use of light and colour for integration into a body of creative work.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
•Explore the possibilities of colour and light through experimentation with art making techniques and media
•Extend your understanding of the unique possibilities with art making
You will gain an understand the different art making process and the relevant OH&S requirements.
It is expected you will determine and organise resource requirements for new work, develop research and refine a conceptual vision for a body of work.
Details of Learning Activities
Your learning activities will take place in a studio. You will complete workshops and industry style projects.
In this course, you learn through both in class activities and out of class activities.
1. In-class activities include:
- teacher directed group activities/projects
- class exercises to review discussions/lectures
- peer teaching and class presentations
- class exercises to review discussions/lectures
- studio work.
2. Out-of-class activities include:
- practical exercises
- project work
- independent research.
The major learning experience involves studio based practice, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that you attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is on going throughout the semester and requires participation in workshops. The demonstrated ability to research and experiment with techniques to produce art works will be assessed by participation in the workshops which is mandatory. 

You will demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding of the processes, skills and techniques of the methods of artv making which you are introduced to.
Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through completion of a body of work that demonstrates concept development, understanding of materials and adhering to the guidelines of working in a studio.
Appropriate support and resource material including a visual diary should also be submitted for assessment.
Assessment Tasks
To demonstrate competency in this course, you will need to complete the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assessment.
Assessment task
Completion of a folio of work that includes:
- One resolved image at an edition of a minimum of 5 prints per image
- One image that will be an experimental unique state print. A play with colour – monochromatic, grey tones, shifted colours
- Visual Diary
Assessment Matrix
The assessment matrix demonstrates alignment of assessment tasks with the relevant Unit of Competency.
