Course Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement the operational plan by monitoring and adjusting operational performance, producing short term plans for the department/section, planning and acquiring resources and providing reports on performance as required.

This course will be a combination of lectures, class exercises, case studies, and on line study. Students are expected to take part in the training activities and contribute through discussion and debate. Attendance is mandatory for all classes where there is an in-class assessment. Overview of Assessment
Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, homework, assignments, group and/or individual projects, in class exercises, written and practical assessments, problem solving exercises, presentations, direct observation of actual and simulated work practice, presentation of portfolio of evidence which may comprise documents, and/or photographs and/or video and audio files, review of products produced through work based or course activities.
Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. Students will be provided with feedback throughout the course to check their progress.

There are 3 assessments in the course. Students must pass all assessments to be competent in this course.
ASSESSMENT 1
Draft Student Study Plan 1 Due end of Week 5 Sunday 3.00am

Develop and document an Operational Plan for the study you are required to do in this semester for the Cert IV Frontline Management. Identify the KRAs, and the KPIs you will use to measure if RMIT and student goals have been achieved. Document both. Outline relevant student budget and financial considerations. Identify and assess risk. Problem solve and develop contingency plans to reduce the risks.
ASSESSMENT 2
Final Student Study Plan and Resource Acquisition Report Due end of Week 10 Sunday 3.00 am

Resource acquisition report: write a report describing the process for resource acquisition for both staff and physical resources using existing procedures in the company you work for. If you do not have access to these, use recruitment & induction procedures and purchasing procedures approved or given to you by your teacher. Give a detailed example showing you can apply these procedures. Include actual costs.
Demonstrate skills in applying induction procedures through in-class exercises. Prepare data for a proposal to a manager setting out the reason why certain resources are needed.
ASSESSMENT 3
Student Study Plan Monitoring Report. Due end of Week 15 Sunday 3.00am

Write a report about your Study Plan showing your monitoring system. Analyse and comment on how your system performed and recommend variations to the Plan. Your report must show implementation of systems for required record keeping (document control).
Coaching skills for mentoring and dealing with unsatisfactory performance will be covered by exercises in class.

Resubmissions (VET Programs)
If you are found to be unsuccessful in a Course Assessment Task you will be allowed one resubmission only. Your teacher will provide feedback regarding what you need to do to improve and will set a new deadline for the resubmission.
