Course Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to develop patterns for custom-made footwear designs.
The unit of competency applies to making patterns for custom-made shoes and may involve the selection and modification of existing patterns. Design specifications may be workplace or client initiated. This is a Vocational Education and Training qualification and is assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard required in the workplace. To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Assessment Tasks
Assessment Task 1 – Knowledge Questions: This assessment task allows you to demonstrate your knowledge required to develop patterns for custom-made footwear, measure, cut and sew custom-made shoe components and assemble and finish custom-made shoes.
Full-time Due Weeks 3, 5, 7, 8, 11 & 14.
Part -time Due Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 8.
Assessment Task 2 – Make Patterns for Custom-Made Footwear: This practical assessment will allow you to demonstrate your ability to develop patterns for custom-made footwear designs for a full range of leathers and other appropriate textiles and materials.
Full-time Due Weeks 4, 8 & 12.
Part-time Due Weeks 2, 5, & 6.
Assessment Task 3 – Measure, cut and sew custom-made shoe components: This practical assessment will allow you to demonstrate your ability to measure, cut and sew custom-made shoe components.
Full-time Due Weeks 4, 5, 7, 8 & 9.
Part-time Due Weeks 2, 4, 5, & 7.
Assessment Task 4 – Finish custom-made shoes: This practical assessment will allow you to demonstrate your ability to assemble and finish custom-made shoes.
