Course Description
In this Course you will develop skills to apply workplace policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for self and others.
This course consists of 2 Units of Competency that are clustered together for delivery and assessment.
The other Unit of Competency in this clustered course is
- MSTGN4010 Implement and monitor WHS and environmental systems in the workplace
Please note there will be some adjustments made to the delivery of this course when taken as part of the evening classes in the part-time program.

The learning activities that will be undertaken in this course include:

Overview of Assessment
This course is assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment. To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all the assessment to a satisfactory standard.
You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.
Competency is achieved only if competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period. Students are advised that they may be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to confirm aspects of competency not evidenced in class or through assessments.

Assessment Tasks
Assessment 1 -Implement and monitor WHS and environmental systems in the workplace (due wk 7)
There are 4 parts to this task, you will be required to complete:
Part 1: Participate in identifying hazards, and assessing and controlling risks for the work area
Part 2: Support participative arrangements for managing WHS
Part 3: Assist with incorporating WHS policies and procedures into work team processes
Part 4: Support the organisation’s procedures for providing WHS and environmental training
During the completion of each part, you will need to refer to the WHS Manual supplied.
Assessment 2 - Apply workplace policies and procedures (due wk 7)
There are 4 parts to this task, you will be required to complete:
Part 1: Incident reporting
Part 2: WHS Induction procedure
Part 3: Noise monitoring in your workplace
Part 4: Environmental audit
You must complete each task to a satisfactory level to be deemed competent. Please refer to the assessment briefs which are available via Canvas for full assessment criteria.
You will receive feedback and results from your teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task via Canvas.
