Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work autonomously and in teams to complete work activities relating to the provision of accounting and bookkeeping services.
The unit applies to individuals who occupy accounting and bookkeeping roles with some responsibility, communicate professionally with stakeholders, and use a range of research and organisational techniques to establish and carry out their work requirements in the accounting and bookkeeping industry.
Work functions in the occupational areas where this unit may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. Users are advised to check with the relevant regulatory authorities to confirm those requirements.

Learning Outcomes
Details of Learning Activities
This course will be delivered face-to-face between Weeks 1-9 during the semester.
A range of learning activities are planned for this course, including either online webinar sessions or collaborative classroom-based activities.
A Practice Firm - Work simulated environment will be set up where students will be employed in the virtual office. The students will be simulating the work in this practice firm every week and will perform normal activities as in an office kind situation, It will give them real working-life experience.
The self-paced activities will be delivered through various technology platforms, including your contribution to wikis and discussion threads, reflective journals, quizzes, and interactive sessions.
The collaborative classroom-based activities will include group discussion, group problem-solving activities and opportunities to practice your skills in a simulated/real workplace environment.
We expect you to participate and contribute to all scheduled learning activities.

Overview of Assessment
Performance Evidence
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:
- identify key roles and responsibilities of organisation’s accounting team and alternative service providers
- research and identify compliance requirements and ethical practices relevant to own role
- develop at least one system and guidelines for work procedures that comply with legislative requirements
- plan, communicate and support the team to complete at least three work activities that contribute to the team environment
- identify and undertake at least two professional development opportunities to increase skills for own work role.

Assessment Conditions
Skills in this unit must be demonstrated in a workplace or simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in a working environment in this industry.
This includes access to:
- organisational policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and codes of conduct required for own role
- office equipment, technology, software and consumables required for own role.
Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational education and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

You are encouraged to ask and answer questions during class time and online sessions so that you can obtain feedback on your understanding of the concepts and issues being discussed. Finally, you can email or arrange an appointment with your teacher to gain more feedback on your progress.

Assessment Tasks
The course has two (2) assessment tasks to complete. You are expected to complete both assessment tasks to achieve competency in the course.
The details of the 2 assessment tasks are given below:
Assessment 1: Week 5
The students will be provided with a simulated business situation and will be answering questions based on that.
Assessment 2: Week 7
The students will be provided with a simulated business situation and will be answering questions based on that.

All assessments will utilise a competency-based model and will be deemed as either
- Satisfactory or
- Not Yet Satisfactory.

Submission Requirements
You should:
- Ensure that you submit assessments on or before the due date.
- Always retain a copy of your assessment tasks. (hard copy and soft copy)
- When you submit work for assessment at RMIT University you need to use the Assessment task document that includes a declaration and statement of authorship.
- Each page of your assessment should include footer with your name, student number, the title of the assessment, unit code and title and page numbers.
Late Submission Procedures
You are required to submit assessment items and/or ensure performance based assessment is completed by the due dates.
If you are prevented from submitting an assessment item on time, by circumstances outside your control, you may apply in advance to your teacher for an extension to the due date of up to seven calendar days.

Resubmissions (VE Programs):
If you are found to be unsuccessful in a particular Course Assessment Task (or you do not submit/attend) you will be allowed one resubmission. Your teacher will provide feedback regarding what you need to do to improve and will set a new deadline for the resubmission.
If you are still not meeting the assessment requirements you must apply to your Program Manager in writing outlining the steps you will take to demonstrate competence in your course. Your submission will be considered by the Program Team and you will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
Grading & re-submissions
Successful re-submissions will contribute a CAG only (Competency Achieved Grading) result to your overall grade for the course.
