Course Description

This competency is concerned with viruses and system diagnostics. In this unit the student will gain competency in using virus checking software, diagnosing the operating system and implementing required changes.A number of operating systems may be used for practical purposes such as Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.  This competency is co-delivered with ‘Operate System Software’.

Overview of Assessment

Student must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner. Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods: class exercises, homework, practical project and tests. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.
