Overview of Assessment
Assessment will explore a range of interpersonal skills and industry knowledge needed to understand and participate effectively as a freelancer in the workplace.
Assessment Tasks
1. Prospective Placement Planning Sheet and Audit Sheet (25%) Due Week 5
Research positions from a range of sources. Assess qualities, short/long term goals/ work characteristics, skills inventory, S.W.O.T. analysis, work placement options.
2. Covering Letter and Resume (20%) Due week 9
Participants are to provide an appropriate covering letter and resume that will be suitable for submission to:-
- potential employers for an advertised position
- an unsolicited position or work placement option
3. Industry Portfolio (25%) Due week 12
Overview of current industry issues relevant to the creative industries. The portfolio could include newspaper/internet articles, examples of contracts, job statistics, industry trends, interview with two current practitioners.
4. Preparation Interviews (20%) Due week 16
Plan and role-play an individual interview to demonstrate skills in job seeking and negotiation.
5. Class exercises (10%) ongoing
Grades used in this unit are as follows:
80 – 100% HD High Distinction
70 – 79% DI Distinction
60 – 69% CR Credit
50 – 59% PA Pass
Under 50% NN Fail
