Course Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge to draw an accurate trade or technical drawing based on specifications and a design.

Learning Outcomes
To obtain relevant skills in development of accurate trade or technical drawings are required to interpret and clarify a garment design where it applies to the patternmaking or design room needs.
Details of Learning Activities
This is a manual drawing class using primarily, pencil and fine line pen. You will be drawing garments and garment components from a variety of sources such as magazines and samples to Fashion industry standards.
You will be expected to attend, participate and complete each task to the required standard, to be eligible to be assessed and to continue with the next task.
As well as class activities you will be required to undertake research and assessment practice outside of regular class times. You are reminded of the learning expectation that you will complete an equal amount of research time outside of class as you do in class to further you understanding and to be deemed competent in this course.

Topics:
Safe and efficient trade sketching for fashion design.
Layout and techniques for trade drawing for fashion design.
Figure proportions
Garment templates
Garment details such as collar types, sleeve types, pleats and garment fullness, garment fit and shaping, fastenings and openings.
Integration of a variety of textiles and trimmings into the trade drawing.
Accurate identification, labelling and documentation of the trade drawing.

Graded assessment
A pass in each assessment will result in a grade for the student. Where a pass is achieved competency for that assessment is given. Where there are multiple assessments for a single competency the students must achieve competency (a pass) in each assessment to be deemed competent. Competency MUST be achieved in all assessments of the course for a graded result to be obtained.
