Course Description
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to supervise the planning process and organisation of on-site building or construction work projects up to and including medium rise commercial and wide span buildings (medium rise licensing classification with reference to Class 1 and 10 construction, Class 2 and 3 to a maximum of 3 storeys, Class 4 to 9 to a maximum of 3 storeys, not including Type A construction). Successful supervision of planning and organisation requires effective interpretation of contractual and planning requirements and development of strategies for using human and physical resources effectively in order to comply with contractual obligations. In order to achieve the outcomes for this unit, knowledge of relevant building and construction planning practices, state or territory building and construction codes, standards and regulations and human resource principles and practices is required.

You will also use equipment and software packages in the laboratory for the project work. During the course, you will be directed to websites to enhance your knowledge and understanding of difficult concepts.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including written,oral, practical tasks and activities. You will be asked to personally demonstrate to your teacher/assessor the practical skills gained during this course to the relevant industry standards. Assessment activities will occur throughout this course and feedback will be provided at regular intervals.

Assessment Tasks
Project based assessment Task 1.
Planning permit application, building permit application and ABIC contract, site investigation checklist template and selected class activities including multiple choice quizzes. The majority of this assessment task is to be completed during timetabled classes under the supervision of the relevant teacher.
Hand out lesson 2 with some tasks to be completed during class and final completion lesson 7.
Weighting towards final result for this assessment task: 10%
Project based assessment Task 2.
Preparation of a selected building site for construction including site establishment, site diary dilapidation report, OH&S documentation and selected class activities including multiple choice quizzes. The majority of this assessment task is to be completed during timetabled classes under the supervision of the relevant teacher.
Hand out during lesson 8 and with some tasks to be completed during class and final completion lesson 15
Weighting towards final result for this assessment task: 10%

Students must pass all 4 project based assessment tasks and both hard copy closed book tests to be deemed competent (pass) in this course.
Students please note: Project based assessment tasks largely completed outside regular timetabled classes will not be accepted without special consideration and will be marked DNS.
Students without special consideration may be given an opportunity to submit DNS (did not submit) or resubmit NYS (not yet satisfactory) project based assessment tasks or test at the end of each semester subject to a decision by the moderation panel. Submitted DNS or resubmitted NYS tasks will only be awarded a competent equivalent (50%) grade for each of these assessment tasks.
Individual project based assessment tasks and tests deemed competent will be marked as a percentage. Once all project based assessment tasks and tests are successfully completed percentage will allocated as per weighting and a weighted average will calculate the final mark and therefore final grade as follows.
50-59% = CAG, 60-69% = CC, 70-79% = CDI and 80%+ = CHD
