Course Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge you will require to construct immediate dentures that are constructed from clinically acceptable materials and finished suitable for insertion in the mouth . The prosthesis you construct will be replacing a patients natural dentition (teeth) with a removable appliance to be inserted in the clinic once the natural teeth have been extracted.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course you will be able to demonstrate, on a consistent basis, the arrangement of artificial teeth for complete prosthesis (dentures) as well as techniques for converting the wax trial dentures into a final hard acrylic suitable for wear by a patient. You will set teeth in various arrangements in accordance with a prescription and be exposed to different techniques of curing the dentures.
Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed in a simulated workplace and under the normal range of work conditions.
You will be assessed on both the essential knowledge and the demonstration of essential skills through;
Completion of practical exercises - including detailed self reflection of each exercise
