Course Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to practice as a nursing professional with clients across the lifespan in a range of health care environments, such as acute care, community care, mental health, aged care, medical / surgical
The knowledge and skills described in this competency unit are to be applied within jurisdictional nursing and midwifery regulatory authority legislative requirements. Enrolled/Division 2 nursing work is to be carried out in consultation/collaboration with registered nurses and under direct or indirect supervisory arrangements in line with jurisdictional regulatory requirements

Group presentation Topics
The group is required to present a short presentation on any of the following topics:
• Discuss the development of Nursing as a profession from the Florence Nightingale era to present day, with particular reference to Nursing as a profession in Australia.
• Discuss the range of health care setting, equity and accessibility to health care.
• Discuss one or more Nursing Theories
• Discuss relevant Nursing documentation

• Discuss the scope of Nursing Practice Decision Making Framework
• Select a type of a patient /condition and develop a learning program to address their needs
The group is required to present their presentation to the class as a team effort.
Then the group is required to submit a 1500 word written paper on their topic with references.
Cover sheets for the written paper must include one per student / group member.
Students must clearly identify what student did what part of their assignment to ensure fairness in marking.
Students will be marked on their work only.
Group written paper should be approximately 1500 words on the topic presented.
This assignment is a part of the assessment for the above course. For this course you are also assessed on your performance in Clinical Placement 20%
Class attendance of 80% required
Cllinical Attendance of 100% required
All assessments components must have a competency grade in order to gain an overall competency grade for this course
