Course Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to evaluate materials and construction methods used on a site in order to determine their impact on the interior design brief.

Learning Outcomes
This unit supports the attainment of skills and knowledge required to identify the features and implications associated with common structural techniques used for walls, ceilings and floors and the materials used. It also covers a simple assessment of main services to determine suitability for design requirements.
Details of Learning Activities
Learning activities will take place in a studio, workshop or classroom using industry standard tools and resources. You will complete exercises and industry style projects. You will also be required to undertake independent study

Overview of Assessment
• Effectively assess structural and non structural elements of a site to determine implications for interior design
• Identify the features and implications of construction techniques identified in the range of variables
• Comply with legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice and established safe practices and procedures for assessing a site
• Communicate effectively and work safely with others in the work area
Assessment Tasks
You will undertake one major project which includes several key components to demonstrate your competence in a range of areas.
This major oroject is to detail a proposal for a commercial space within an Industry Trade Show (Exhibition space)
Assessment tasks are linked to the subjects ARCH 5207C Evaluate Site for Interior Design Brief and GRAP 5208C Develop a Decoration Proposal
Assessment Tasks include the following :
Task 1 : Research Presentation
Present research on Exhibition design (national and international), site analysis and future trends. Submission Due : Week 2, Session 2
Task 2 : Final Concept Documentation
Present final Concept in multi media presentation including 2D and 3D methods of communication. Submit working drawings and schedules. Submission Due : Week 8, Session 2
