Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use a structured approach to counselling to determine, establish and confirm the nature of the counsellor client relationship according to the agency’s counselling model.
This unit applies to individuals whose job role involves working with clients on personal and psychological issues within established policies, procedures and guidelines.

Overview of Assessment
This unit is assessed in a cluster with CHCCSL002: Apply specialist interpersonal and counselling interview skills.
There are four individual assessment tasks consisting of role plays and a quiz.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment task 1: Complete an online quiz to test your knowledge of the key issues and concepts related to establishing and confirming counselling relationships. (Due by week 8)
Assessment task 2: Prepare counselling plans for three clients, based on real case studies and/or scenarios. (Due by week 10)
Assessment 3: Participate in three role plays with three difference clients to demonstrate counselling knowledge and skills. (In class)
Assessment Matrix
The assessment matrix demonstrates alignment tasks with the relevant unit of competency. These matrix’s are available through program administration.
