Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and evaluate work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area, according to WHS legislative requirements.
This unit applies to workers who have responsibility for WHS as part of their role, including workers with obligations under WHS legislation, persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs), or their officers (as defined by relevant legislation).

ideas and extend your understanding around key concepts within specific topics
• Online discussions and activities to support and collaborate with other students in your course
and debate and discuss ideas
• Utilise and develop critical research and cognitive skills to find credible sources of health
information
• Self-directed study time (eg. readings or activities around theory) to enhance and strengthen

In order to be deemed satisfactory you will need to perform the following tasks and upload each assessment task on Turnitin:
WHS004/INF004 AT1 Case Studies: Due week 5: Tuesday 6th April 2018 Submitted via Turnitin
Each student will be required to provide a detailed response to Workplace Health and Safetyand Infection Control Case Studies.
Each Case Study will start with a scenario that requires you to apply the knowledge gained during the course in order to make the workplace safe ensuring compliance with WHS Legislation and Infection Control requirements.
WHS004/INF004 AT2 Group ProjectWHS and Infection ControlPowerPoint Presentation: Due date: 29th May 2018 Submitted via Turnitin
Step 1: Identify 2x risks or hazards within a clinical setting for Workplace Health and Safety and Infection control
Step 2: Conduct a risk assessment for both hazards/risks identified
Step 3: Develop control measures to manage and reform the workplace around these two workplace risks.
Step 4: Develop a training session to train staff on both hazards. This information session should include workplace policies, procedures and use/demonstration of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required for the job role. Training must provide a detailed understanding of why these hazards present a risk, how a hazard can occur, how to comply with WHS/Infection Control procedures, how to minimise/prevent the risk.
Step 5: Develop a simulated emergency plan for your staff and provide training on how to perform the evacuation.
Step 6: Create a written feedback form in order to review your presentation and present your training session to the class. Provide the class with two feedback forms to review your presentation.
Step 7: Develop an action plan based on the findings above and demonstrate how you will monitor training, legislation changes (state & national), council regulation updates and association updates. Furthermore, please explain how you will keep track of this information and how you will review this process.
Step 8: Submit all documentation via Turnitin
Your Group Project WHS and Infection ControlPowerPoint Presentation must include the following documentation:
-Two (2) Risk Assessment forms (Step 2 in your assessment) for both hazards: WHS and Infection Control
- 1 WHS
- 1 INF Control Hazard
- Control Measures to manage and reform the workplace around these hazards using Workplace Policies and Procedures
- use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE ) where required
- understanding of why these hazards are present
- how a risk and hazard can occur
- how to comply with WHS / Infection Control Procedures
- What are your legal WHS / Infection Control obligations as an employer
- How to minimise the risk and hazard
- How to monitor and control the risk/ hazard
- How staff will keep informed in regards to updated information
- Simulated emergency plan for your staff and evacuation ( include how you will train your staff, what will you need to keep everyone informed of changes to the evacuation procedure)
- A WHS and Infection Control Action Plan ( how will you action upon your WHS and Infection Control hazards, how will you monitor and review training, legislation changes, council regulations and association updates, who will be in control of this information
- Two (2) Feedback forms and
- your Reflection / Modification on the feedback provided by your peers in the Feedback forms.

3. WHS and Infection Control Observation Forms
Due: 29th May 2018
Each student will be required to complete a Skills Evidence Checklist which will be undertaken within the clinical setting of the RMIT Student Remedial Massage Clinic. During your clinic shift your supervisor will mark you off as either Satisfactory (S) or Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS) for the skills listed in the Skills Evidence Checklist on an on-going basis.
Please note:
If you require help with these assessments, please contact your RMIT teacher or Program Coordinator as soon as possible. If you leave it to the last minute there may not be enough time to submit the assessments by the due date.
You must answer all questions to (S) Satisfactory standard in order to be deemed competent in this course.
