Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify, plan and manage the implementation of industry specific technologies at an identified industry standard.
The unit applies to those engaged in ongoing review and research to identify, manage and evaluate the implementation of industry technologies or techniques to improve aspects of the organisation’s activities.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:
- implement industry specific technology for an organisation, according to organisational requirements, on at least one occasion, including:
- analysing and critically evaluating the features and functions of identified industry specific technologies to an industry standard
- managing the implementation process of new and emerging industry specific technology
- reviewing the performance of the industry specific technologies for the organisation.
Knowledge evidence
The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:
- trends and applications of current vendor products and technologies
- techniques for gathering information to assist in identifying and managing implementation of industry specific technologies
- current directions of information and communications technology (ICT) and specifically of the major industry technology standards used in the specified area
- general features, capabilities and application of current industry hardware and software products.
Details of Learning Activities
The delivery of this subject will be face to face on-campus.
This subject will be delivered in the latter 8 weeks of the semester - the other subject will be Manage Team Effectiveness which will be delivered in weeks 1-8.
The activities will include some elements of lecture style, some research-based and self directed learning. There will be a large part of the activities incorporating role play and scenario based problem solving exercises.
The emphasis will be mainly on interactive learning using online resources written explicitly for this course which is focused on Implementing and Planning Future Technology applications for Logistics this is applicable in everyday Logistics operations. It should provide the student an insight into what can be whilst enabling the student to understand the complexity, checks and balances that must be done to make an implementation successful

Assessment conditions

Assessment Tasks
Assessment 1 - Future Tech - Build your Business Case Website
This assessment task is the first of two tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this unit.
You have been given the opportunity to discover, research and advocate the adoption of new technologies for SolveIT Logistics who have recognised that they will only remain sustainable as a business, if they can continue to stay ahead of their competitors. There is a high level of expectation that you will be able to come up with some original ideas and will be able to ‘keep it simple’ in setting out how your proposed solution(s) will work.
Adopting the role of Logistics Graduate within the Case Study company SolveIT Logistics you are required to analyse and plan the implementation of technologies specific to you organisation research use a comprehensive Website, the purpose of which is for you to pitch your selected Future Technology Proposal to the business.
This task will allow you to demonstrate the knowledge of logistics technology solutions and allow you to showcase what your concept / solution could do to benefit a sustainable future for SolveIT Logistics.
Assessment 2 - Future Tech - Manage the Pre to Post Planning for Technology Implementation
This assessment task is the second of two tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this unit.
You have been given the opportunity to discover, research and advocate the adoption of new technologies for SolveIT Logistics who have recognised that they will only remain sustainable as a business, if they can continue to stay ahead of their competitors. There is a high level of expectation that you will be able to come up with some original ideas and will be able to ‘keep it simple’ in setting out how your proposed solution(s) will work.
Adopting the role of Logistics Graduate within the Case Study company SolveIT Logistics you have already created a comprehensive Website, the purpose of which was for you to pitch your selected Future Technology Proposal to the business. (Assessment 1)
This next task will allow you to demonstrate the knowledge capability to plan and coordinate the steps involved in verifying need, project planning, troubleshooting, together with surveying, reviewing and gaining sign off once the project is complete.
