GRAP5216C Analyse fashion industry textiles to guide commercial development
ISYS5658C Apply electronic systems to textile design and production
It is reccomended that candidates ensure that enrolment in each of these courses occurs in the same teaching period.
Course Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge to develop a textile product range and present the range to the client. This unit requires the application of communications skills associated with interpreting product requirements, undertaking research, and presenting and communicating designs. Technology is applied during the design process when using computer aided design systems. Problem solving, initiative and enterprise and planning and organising are central to the design development process. Teamwork skills are required to refine design concepts with design team.

Details of Learning Activities
Learning activities are conducted within a computing laboratory and specialist machine rooms. The activities are designed for clients to gain knowledge, skills, and expertise at using CAD for textile design and development of a product range. The learning activities are integrated with Apply electronic systems to textile design and production.
Advanced principles of textile design are incorporated into the learning activities, within the textile areas of print, weave and knit product ranges.
Advanced software skills are applied to presentation methods Clients have the opportunity to develop personal project for CAD textiles and create a comprehensive product range to industry specifications and standards.

Overview of Assessment
To achieve successful completion of this course, students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of competency.
Assessment tasks have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner.
Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, homework and in class exercises, practical problem solving exercises, layout and presentation of textile design
Students will be awarded a grade only if competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period on the first assessment attempt.
Units assessed as ‘not yet competent’ on a first assessment attempt and ‘competent’ on a second or subsequent attempt are to have results amended to competent but are not eligible for grading.
Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher.
All work must be submitted by the due date. Late submission will not be graded higher than a PASS.
Students will be providede with details of assessment and grading information in first class
