Course Description
This unit covers the use of computer application relevant to
engineering support work functions. It encompasses applying
user preferences, using application menus and tools, entering
and retrieve information, working with groups and transferring
and printing files.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment in this unit will include:
• Progressive practical assessment - laboratory exercises
• Written tests
• Engineering problem simulation projects
Assessment Tasks
You are required to complete the following assessment tasks:
Assessment task 1: Laboratory exercises 40% (Matlab 20% and AUTOCAD 20%)
Assessment task 1 will be a set of tutorial and practical exercises. All these exercises need to be completed by week 13. The practical exercises are accumulative ones and will be graded on submission of all laboratory reports. These tutorial/practical exercises will be available on learning hub and student’s local drive.

Assessment task 2: Project 20%
MATLAB and AUTOCAD Projects - Students will be required to work on a project based on the skills they learnt in previous weeks. The project will commence on week 13 or 14 and students need to demonstrate the working project and submit the reports by week 17. The project details will be provided on the learning hub and student’s local drive.
Assessment task 3 : Practical Test 40% (Matlab and AUTOCAD)
A practical test will be held on week 18 based on all the learning aspects of these competencies.
All assessment tasks need to be succesfully completed to demonstrate competence.
This course is graded using the following course grades:
70 - 79: CDI - Competent with Distinction
60 - 69: CC - Competent with Credit
50 - 59: CAG - Competency Achieved - Graded
0 - 49: NYC - Not Yet Competent

Other Information
This course is delivered in a cluster (Engineering Software) in conjunction with "EEET6764C Design printed circuit board" and "ISYS5662C Use engineering applications software". All the learning and assessment activities will include the components of both competencies UEENEEH081B and UEENEED004B.
In this cluster (ISYS5662C and EEET6764C), minimum student directed hours are 44 in addition to 36 scheduled teaching hours.
Student directed hours involve completing activities such as reading online resources, assignments, project work, individual student-teacher course-related consultation, organized industrial visits, writing reflective journals, lab reports.
