Course Description
This unit covers wiring and connection of accessories, continuity and insulation resistance testing of circuits intended to operate at extra-low voltage. Typically this includes circuits and accessories for extra low voltage powered devices, security, controls, integrated systems, audio/video systems. It encompasses the principles of single source, single load power circuits, control circuits and communications circuits, safe working practices and following work processes that satisfy electrical principles for safety and functionality.

This course is delivered in a cluster (LV Wiring and Electrical Hazards) in conjunction with EEET6781C (Lay
wiring/cabling and terminate accessories for extra-low voltage circuits) and COMM5464C(Document occupational hazards
and risks in electrical). All the learning and assessment activities will include the components of both competencies
UEENEEE008B and UEENEEE033B.
In this cluster, minimum student directed hours are 28 in addition to 32 scheduled teaching hours.
Student directed hours involve completing activities such as reading online resources, assignments, project work,
individual student-teacher course-related consultation and writing lab reports.
