Purpose of the Program
The Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) program provides the knowledge and skills required in the financial management of public and private enterprises through a broad-based curriculum involving highly-focussed and in-depth theoretical and practical learning and professional training in economics and finance, combined with generalist business studies in statistics, accounting, marketing, management, and business IT.
The program is delivered on-campus through face-to-face teaching and learning, with some online components, where you will be engaged in a variety of learning experiences, including lectures and tutorials, individual assignments, collaborative team-based projects, presentations, and activities using the Financial Markets Training Simulator. Assessments include formal examinations, written assignments, presentations, evaluation of case studies, projects, and in-class tests.
The final year of the program includes the capstone course BAFI3200 International Finance which will provide you the opportunity to critically reflect on, consolidate and apply the theoretical approaches and work-practice experiences gained throughout the program in discipline related real-world scenarios, providing you with the skills and attributes necessary for work-readiness in your chosen career field or to progress successfully to further studies at the graduate level. This program will prepare you to work in a globalised, international context as a professional economist, analyst, researcher, trader, or financier in the banking, stockbroking, funds management, insurance and superannuation industries and in other private sector or government organisations requiring high level, technical expertise in financial and economic analysis, or for post-graduate studies and possible employment in tertiary education and academia.
