The combination of skills and qualifications from both the Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering) (Honours) and Bachelor of Business provides you with the capability to play a pivotal role in planning, implementing and managing aerospace projects and developments in a wide range of industries, government and non-government organisations and non-aerospace organisations; including the automotive industry, the power generation industry, software support and research organisations, that require high level business skills.
The objective of the Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering) (Honours) is to provide you with the skills to become a highly employable and effective aerospace engineer within a national and international context. The program is designed to prepare you for a wide range of career possibilities by developing particular graduate attributes that will be of ongoing benefit to you, your industry and society.
As a graduate of this program, you will have been prepared to practise as an effective, high-level aerospace engineer. You will have demonstrated:
- the ability to utilise fundamental knowledge and skills in mathematics and the sciences which underpin engineering;
- sound skills and an appropriate understanding of disciplines relevant to aerospace engineering and its practice;
- suitable design skills, appropriate creativity, intellectual discipline, and professional skills relevant to working with others;
- the ability to communicate your ideas in a way appropriate to your profession and the wider community;
- the ability to learn in a self-directed way that will support professional extension in your working life and that will lead you to adapt through technological and social change; and
- the ability to investigate complex problems using research-based knowledge and research methods.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering) (Honours) program has a real-world focus with a problem/project-based active learning approach. In your first two years, you are exposed to the fundamentals of engineering sciences, mathematics, engineering design, and professional engineering practice. In the later years of the program, you will delve into courses with an aerospace focus.
You will undertake project courses OENG1167/OENG1180 Engineering Capstone Project Part A, OENG1168/OENG1179 Engineering Capstone Project Part B and AERO2362/AERO3352 Aerospace Systems Design Project, in which you will conduct research projects that can be analytical, experimental, design or computational in nature (or some combination of these). The capstone experience undertaken in OENG1167/OENG1180 Engineering Capstone Project Part A and OENG1168/OENG1179 Engineering Capstone Project Part B will give you the opportunity to integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt in your program.
You can also broaden your skillset by completing a minor in Engineering Enterprise and Project Management, Humanitarian Innovation, Engineering Innovation & Design or Intelligent Manufacturing Technologies.
Graduates of this double degree could pursue a career as a leader in:
- design and manufacturing companies such as Boeing Australia, Airbus, BAE Systems Australia, Lockheed Martin and Australian Aerospace
- defence forces like the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force

As a graduate of this degree, you'll be ready to work as a high-level engineer on a wide range of Australian and international projects.
The Bachelor of Business is a generalist business education degree that prepares you for careers in diverse business professions and environments, within a global context. The degree is flexible, allowing you to develop generalist business knowledge or undertake more focused studies through a choice of majors, minors and cross-disciplinary study options. As a graduate of this program, you will develop the skills and knowledge for employment in large corporations, government, small to medium enterprises and small business, and not for profit organisations.
As a graduate of this program, you will be able to pursue traditional business specialist careers, such as an auditor, HR professional, investment advisor, legal and marketing professional. In addition, roles that have a cross-disciplinary perspective, such as global procurement, logistics, transformation manager, business behaviorist and digital marketing analyst.
The Bachelor of Business also provides a capstone experience at the conclusion of the program that is embedded in course BUSM2582 Business Graduate Folio. In the final year, this practical-based capstone course integrates outcomes of your self-directed journey for the purpose of careers, employability, further study, research, professional learning and/or self-reflection and celebration.
These programs have a real-world focus with an active learning approach and with learning activities and experiences designed to foster your development as an independent learner so you will be able to extend your capabilities once you graduate. The teaching methods may include lectorials, seminars, tutorials, workshops, practical and laboratory sessions, site visits and provision of online materials
This program is delivered in blended mode, which includes a combination of online, self-directed and face-to-face activities at the City and Bundoora campuses.

Articulation
Articulation agreements between RMIT programs enable students graduating from an RMIT qualification to achieve advanced standing in a higher level qualification.
Students who apply to transfer to one of the single degrees that are components of this double degree program, will be eligible for credit for any equivalent courses in the single degree structure, and may transfer credit for any other courses that can meet elective requirements of the single degree structure.

Pathways

Program Entry Requirements
Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent.

Prerequisites
Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) prerequisite units 3 and 4 — a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics or Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics, or equivalent studies, and a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL; or a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).
English language requirements
A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0 or equivalent.

Engineers Australia is the professional body responsible for the accreditation of higher education programs that prepare students to practise as professional engineers. Engineers Australia is a signatory to the Washington Accord. This means that the program is internationally recognised and graduates are able to practise as professional engineers in many countries around the world. Graduates of the Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering) (Honours) are eligible for graduate and/or professional membership of Engineers Australia.
The Bachelor of Business program is not accredited by any external industry or professional body.
Industry Links
The Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering) (Honours) program has an Industry Advisory Committee (IAC). Membership is diverse and drawn from external industry and professional institutions. These committees help inform program development and ensure that program content and student learning outcomes remain closely aligned with the needs of future employers. In addition, academic staff maintain connections with industry to develop and deliver work integrated learning experiences as well as offer advice on professional careers.
The Bachelor of Business program is closely linked to industry. This takes place in various forms. In the curriculum, some courses are designed as 'work integrated learning' (WIL) courses involving discipline related industry projects as part of learning. The College of Business and Law has established Industry Advisory Committees comprising of high-profile industry representatives. The role of the committees ensures the College of Business and Law's links with industry standards and practices remain current.
Industry links are also encouraged through industry sponsored design projects usually undertaken in your final year (as part of OENG1167/OENG1180 Engineering Capstone Project Part A and OENG1168/OENG1179 Engineering Capstone Project Part B).





Top of pageStudent expenses and charges in addition to fees
Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs. A scientific calculator (similar to those used in VCE Year 12) is also a mandatory requirement for all students and will be needed from the start of your program.
Calculator Requirement
For student commencing the program from semester 1, 2026, you are required to have a scientific calculator for your studies. Only scientific calculators are permitted in on-campus tests unless otherwise specified by the course coordinator. A scientific calculator, as defined by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), must not include features such as graphing, symbolic manipulation (CAS), programming functions, extended memory capable of storing text or symbols, or any communication capability. It is your responsibility to ensure your calculator complies with these requirements and does not include prohibited features.
Laptop Requirement
For students commencing the program from semester 1, 2026, you are required to have regular access to a laptop that meets the minimum specifications outlined by RMIT for academic use. A suitable device is essential for participating in tutorials, accessing course materials, running required software, and completing assessments. You are expected to bring your laptop to all relevant classes. While the University provides access to specialist software, it is your responsibility to ensure your device is fully functional and kept up to date with essential software such as internet browsers and operating system updates, to enable access to university systems and services.

Online learning tools and content
As a student in this program you may access online learning tools and content for your program and associated courses from the student portal https://www.rmit.edu.au/students.
As well as standard word processing and data analysis software, the School also provides engineering specific computer software related to such areas as fluid dynamics, engineering drawing, design, stress analysis, project management, materials selection and automated systems.
Selected course material is available in electronic form from myRMIT. Otherwise, prescribed and recommended texts are available in the library for both short and long term loan. The library contains some past examination papers which you can use for revision, literature search facilities for use in design projects and theses, and electronic access to Australian standards which are frequently used in design projects.
