This nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) qualification has been validated by the community services and health industry. This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

RMIT works closely with employing organisations to ensure that the program meets the needs of the workplace.  The program  can be delivered on site at a disabilty organisation for existing disabiltiy workers, or on campus at RMIT with stundents working in disabilty support roles but coming together from different organisations within the sector .  This program can also be offered as a traineeship to existing workers who are employed by disability organisations that enter a training agreement with RMIT University.

Industry partners are active participants in the selection of electives, delivery and assessment tasks through membership of the Industry Advisory Committee.
