Purpose of the Program

This qualification covers competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair, maintain and commission systems and devices for measurement and recording of physical/chemical phenomenon and related process control systems.

The qualfication is a specialist stream of training in the Electrotechnology Training Package. 

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at this time.

Entrance requirements

This program is delivered as an apprenticeship or direct entry study.

To enrol in this program as an apprentice you should:

Make contact with Australian Apprenticeship Support Network who can explain Apprenticeships and assist with finding employment as an apprentice.
Sign a training contract with your employer and the Apprenticeship Network provider
Nominate RMIT as your preferred Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

You will be contacted by RMIT after we are notified by the Apprenticeship Network to organise your enrolment.

 

A direct entry student can enrol withotu an appreticeship and pay the required fees.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

You can access books, journals and other course related materials, such as DVDs, past exams, newspapers and e-books. Through our document delivery service, you can also request items from any library in the world. Computers for study are available at every Library site, where you can access the Internet, myRMIT https://www.rmit.eu/content/rmit-ui/en/students or Library e-resources.  

 

If you have a laptop, you can access the RMIT University wireless network in the Library.  

 

Library staff can show you how to find information for your assignments or you can work through web-based tutorials or use our online Ask a Librarian service.

Indigenous Students 

We also offer a friendly and supportive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners can gain support and encouragement from the Ngarara William Centre. Ngarara Willim means ‘gathering place’ in the language of the Wurundjeri, the traditional custodians of the land where RMIT stands. Staff can assist learners to engage and re-engage with education. They offer ongoing guidance with study, living and cultural needs.
