Purpose of the Program
This qualification reflects the role of skilled surveying technicians who hold advanced surveying skills and perform duties in the field involving the performance of precise measurements and setting out of structures using specialised surveying equipment. In the office they map onsite measurements and draft plans.
Surveying skills are applied in a range of industry contexts, including town planning, civil construction, mining, engineering, agriculture and defence.
Cadastral surveying must be undertaken under the supervision of a registered surveyor. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

This qualification is part of a nationally accredited Training Package CPP Property Services and was developed by the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council. Students are eligible to apply for student membership of the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute and the Institution of Surveyors Victoria.
The School has a very strong Industry Advisory Committee, which is the main link between the program and industry. Membership includes staff from local and regional surveying companies and government instrumentalities. The committee meets twice a year and provides feedback on the currency of our programs, the changing needs of industry and has provided input into the customisation of the current program from the Training Package.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
